A Fresh New Start.....
Happy New Year! I hope that everyone had a great Christmas Break and that we are ready to start the New Year! We spent this last week learning about New Year's Resolutions. The students each made up their own New Year's Resolution as well.
We celebrated a birthday this week too!!!
And of course, there was a group of toothless kiddos that came back from Christmas Vacation...we keep the tooth fairy busy!
Again...Thank you so much for all of the wonderful gifts! I felt soooo spoiled. It was a wonderful Christmas and it was wonderful to come back to these kids!

Ready for a short week?
Yeah...I think we are all really ready for a short week! We will only have school for two days this week and we will be doing many fun Thanksgiving Activities!!! It will be so much fun! We won't have homework packets coming home this week. I am, however, going to send home book orders. They will be due on November 28th-so that we can get the orders in time for Christmas. The book orders are a GREAT way to get Christmas presents for your children and family. If you do order books and want to keep them a surprise from you students...just let me know and I will contact you when the order comes in so that you can get it without your student seeing it :-) Here is a link to our class book orders....

There were several fun things we did last week.... One of the students favorite was an assembly where we had some "bike trick" people come and teach the students about bicycle safety and show them some awesome tricks...
Here is our class with the bike experts! Here are a few links to videos I took of their performance......
http://youtu.be/iAhjM--uvZQ and http://youtu.be/qY8D5YxuTYI
But this was by far the students favorite.....The biker's jumping over Mrs. Killian and Mr. Huffaker....

Club day, Veteran's Day and more....
We have had another exciting week in Mrs. Spencer's second grade! First of all we had a great Veteran's Day assembly and the children sang one of my favorite songs...here is a little video of it....

We also had fun trying to do our club day service....planting bulbs in the front of the school. Some very hard ground and a "little" snow on Friday have put this on hold but as soon as we can see the ground again...we will plant those bulbs! Mrs. Wear's fifth grade class did their club day service with our class...they came and helped the second graders make Thanksgiving Poems. We also had some great moms come and help us this week as well. Molly's mom came and did our "Look Who's a Mathematician". She told the students about how their family raises pigs and how they have to use math in that process...very cool :) We also had Christian's mom come and share a cute monster story with the class for "Look Who's a Reader"! The kids all loved it! I am so thankful for the wonderful things that all of the parents share with my students! Here are some pictures of our week.....
